This week is an important one across the UK, with local and national elections taking place in many areas.
These elections help decide who represents communities and makes key decisions on their behalf. It’s a great opportunity to explore how democracy works and whether people feel their voices are being heard.
We’re excited to be partnering with Our House for this week’s Big Debate:
“Does our political system listen to local people enough?”
This discussion gives pupils the chance to share their views, consider different perspectives and reflect on how communities can have a stronger voice.
Schools can also take this further by creating a People’s Charter - a shared set of ideas about what communities need and how they want to be represented.
