# Smart School Councils > Smart School Councils is a UK education charity (registered charity 1156110) that > helps primary and secondary schools run a whole-school council every child > takes part in, rather than an elected committee of a few pupils. Schools hold > short, structured class meetings where every class discusses the same question, > votes, and feeds ideas back to a pupil-led team that turns them into action. Membership is one price for the whole school: £199 + VAT a year, including training and the online tools. Multi-academy trusts and local authorities get trust-wide and area-wide dashboards. ## Key pages - [Home](https://smartschoolcouncils.org/): what a Smart School Council is and how it works - [For headteachers](https://smartschoolcouncils.org/headteachers): whole-school participation and the evidence trail for inspection - [For school council leads](https://smartschoolcouncils.org/council-leads): how to run it week to week with no planning - [For oracy leads](https://smartschoolcouncils.org/oracy): structured talk practice for every pupil - [For MATs and trusts](https://smartschoolcouncils.org/mats): pupil voice across a whole trust - [Pricing](https://smartschoolcouncils.org/pricing): £199 + VAT a year per school, no per-pupil fees - [See how it works](https://demo.smartschoolcouncils.org.uk/?role=headteacher&src=llms): an anonymised live example, no sign-up - [Join](https://smartschoolcouncils.org/join): start a Smart School Council - [CPD](https://smartschoolcouncils.org/cpd): 90-minute online training - [Events](https://smartschoolcouncils.org/events): free webinars and live pupil debates - [Our story](https://smartschoolcouncils.org/our-story): how the charity started - [Safeguarding](https://smartschoolcouncils.org/safeguarding): how pupils are kept safe - [School council interview questions](https://smartschoolcouncils.org/school-council-interview-questions): questions pupil panels ask when interviewing teachers, and advice for candidates - [Blog](https://smartschoolcouncils.org/blog): practical ideas for running a school council ## Terms we use - **Class meeting**: a short, structured discussion held in every class, not a committee meeting. This is the core unit of a Smart School Council. - **Whole-school council**: every pupil takes part, not only elected representatives. - **Question bank**: a library of discussion questions schools ask their pupils. ## Contact membership@smartschoolcouncils.org.uk
