From Ideas to Action: A More Accessible Way to Track School Council Projects

We love it when schools share how they’re making pupil voice work for them—and this idea from one of our newer SEN member schools, Wembley Manor in Willesden, is too good not to pass on.

As part of their school council work, they’ve been using a project management board to track the progress of pupil-led ideas. To make this more accessible, particularly for Autistic learners and those still developing their reading skills, they’ve adapted the Progress Board using a visual tool to support understanding.

The result is a clear, image-based version of the board that makes it easier for all learners to engage with each step of planning, leading, and reviewing school council actions.

We often hear from schools looking for ways to support learners with different communication needs. This is a brilliant example of how small tweaks to your progress board can make pupil voice more inclusive and meaningful for every student.

 It’s also a great reminder that making pupil voice accessible isn’t just possible, it’s powerful!
