What teachers say
Why school councils matter
Speaking up is a foundation for a successful life and healthy democracy, yet only a few children develop this through normal school councils
Traditional Model Leaves Most Pupils Out
Most school councils rely on a small group to speak for everyone. They’re often teacher-led, hard to run, and lack structure.
Every Child Deserves to Be Heard
Pupil voice and speaking up should be something that every child takes part in - not just a small group. In 600 schools, we’re making this a reality.
What is a Smart School Council?
A modern, inclusive way to run your school council. Instead of the occasional meeting with a small group, a topic is picked and discussed in short, pupil-led meetings in each class. And if you want to go further, pupils can help choose the topics and turn ideas into real change.

How does a class meeting work?
Each class uses the Class Meeting Tool to run a short, pupil-led discussion on a single question you choose.
1️⃣ Teacher opens the meeting link
Teacher clicks the link, and the meeting starts in a normal browser. There’s no prep needed, just click the link.
3️⃣ Class discussion on the topic
The main part of the meeting is a quick, guided, democratic discussion on the question that you’ve chosen.
2️⃣ Two pupils take-over
The leader talks the class through the meeting and the note-taker clicks through at the teacher’s computer. No teacher input is required.
4️⃣ Votes & comments submitted
All the votes and new ideas are shared automatically in your school council dashboard for you to see - no paper needed.
