Giving Young Readers A Voice On World Book Day

We’re thrilled to be partnering with World Book Day on not one, but two thought-provoking debates!

We’re so excited as this collaboration is a fantastic opportunity to celebrate the power of reading and critical thinking, both so vital to our young people’s development.

We want to hear your voices and your community’s thoughts on how we celebrate World Book Day to see if it still sparks imaginations enough on how reading is fun. We will collect up your responses from the first debate and include the most thoughtful ones in our follow-up second debate during World Book Day week so we can discuss how we can celebrate World Book Day in the future to make sure reading is the focus.

By taking part, our members gain access to our special World Book Day resources to enrich their classrooms (starting with the debate pack accompanying the November debate), while also having the chance to be shouted out in our second debate video - giving your young people a platform to have their opinions on World Book Day heard by hundreds of schools across the country. It’s an inspiring way to spark discussion, share ideas, and empower the next generation of readers and thinkers!

Our first debate will go live on the 3rd of November and you can take part right through November and December to make sure your response is collected and potentially included as part of our second debate during World Book Day week in March.

The title of the debate is ‘Is dressing up distracting from the main point of World Book Day?

So what do you think?

Does dressing up on World Book Day make reading more fun and give you the opportunity to enjoy reading in a different way and talk about your favourite characters introducing them to new people?

Or has World Book Day become more about dressing up and costume contests then reading which can be very expensive for families and distracting during your school day?

You decide!  We can’t wait to see your responses!
